I have a Welsummer rooster named “King Tut” but he’s only three weeks old. Already he has his own personality. The broader is in my bedroom, and I’m retired, so this is what I do all day long, watch my chickens. He alredy is displaying rooster caracteristics. The three week old hens are going through that spurt where they get bigger than the cocks for a minute but I haven’t noticed any of them bullying him. I bought him six Rhode Island Red hens. I could have purchased Welsummer hens but I wanted my free range hens to be a little more aggressive than a Welsummer hen. He will be the foundation of my free range stock, God willing. “Big Ed” is very handsome.

J.B.,
I like your rooster’s name. I’m looking at this picture and it was before Big Ed got his spurs and turned mean. I have two roosters now and Big Ed lost the battle for dominance. My other rooster has put Big Ed in his place and now he doesn’t attack me anymore when I go out to feed the flock.

Good luck with your chickens.
