Catawba Coop Door Jam

June 11, 2012 By RDG

It rained the other day. The good news is that the chickens stayed high and dry in their Catawba Coop. The bad news is that when I took the chicken door off, I couldn’t get it back on. The wood had expanded after the rain and no amount of forcing it was going to help.

When put together according to the plans, the Catawba Coop fits together snugly. In order to get the chicken door back on, I marked off about a quarter inch using a straight edge. Then I removed the material using a circular saw.

Marking the line helps the trimming operation.

After shaving some wood off the top of the door, it fits back on the coop. No chickens escaped during this adjustment.
