I enjoy gardening. I find that caring for the garden helps me get in touch with the changing of the seasons while growing healthy and nutritious produce.
I currently practice a method of raised bed gardening called square foot gardening.
My previous attempt at gardening consisted of rototilling a huge section of lawn and then planting lots of vegetables in rows. The garden was quickly over run by weeds and I was discouraged and gave up gardening for a couple of years.
I first heard of square foot gardening on this episode of the survival podcast. Later, I picked up Mel Bartholomew’s book in a book store. After flipping through the book, I decided to buy it and put in my first square foot garden bed the next spring.
